Essendon will be without skipper Matthew Lloyd for this Saturday’s NAB Cup Round 1 clash against the Brisbane Lions at Carrara on the Gold Coast after he suffered a slight hamstring soreness.
“Matthew has been a little bit tight in the upper hamstring for a couple of weeks,” Essendon coach Matthew Knights said Saturday. “It hasn’t been significant but just yesterday at training it was a little tight again. He would have loved to play but it wasn’t worth the risk and we’ll monitor how he goes this week.”
