Essendon coach Matthew Knights on Tuesday publicly slammed Bombers chairman Ray Horsburgh over his comments about the futures of Jason Johnson and Damien Peverill.
“I’m disappointed the way it’s played out, particularly for Jason (Johnson) and Pev (Peverill), because they’ve been fantastic and superb players for the footy club. The chairman of the footy club has the chance to speak on behalf of the footy club at times,” Knights said.
“What I will do at the next board meeting, I will raise the scenario (of how the news came out), do it through the manner and right channels.”
Knights also added that he was hopeful that Dustin Fletcher and Mark McVeigh would return from injury to play against Sydney on Sunday if they make it through Wednesday’s training session
